the sucking bug complex specialist
Syngenta’s latest answer for the control of stinkbugs on macadamia nuts is Chess® – just in time with the global phase out of endosulfan. The product contains the active ingredient pymetrozine which is known for its novel and unique mode of action.
Unique mode of action Chess® is highly systemic and offers immediate protection through permanent feeding inhibition. First symptoms are visible within 15 – 20min after exposure, while insects will withdraw
their stylets within 1 hour after which no further feeding will take place. There is no visible knock-down effect, and insects remain alive for 2 – 4 days, after which they die due to starvation. Chess has a translaminar action in the plant and is rainfast as soon as the spray mixture has dried.
Environmental impact Chess® is harmless to benefi cial insects and is therefore well suitable for the use in an Integrated Pest Management Programme (IPM), especially on sucking pests showing resistance against other chemical groups. Chess® has been granted the “Reduced Risk” status by the U.S Environmental Protecti on Agency, and therefore offers a high safety margin for users and the environment. Application Chess® is registered on avocado and macadamia nuts at a rate of 40g/100ℓ water as a medium cover spray (6ℓ/m tree height above skirt). Refer to the label for full registrati on details and application timing. Chess® has a PHI of 21 days. Contact your Syngenta dealer today to find out more about the proven benefi ts of Chess®.
